A
refreshingly new blend of Americana rock tunes brewed-up by some of
the best musicians in Colorado - Rocky Mountain style.
The
debut release from Boulder, Colo.'s Narrow Gauge Band -- Gravedigger's
Delight, features some of the Rocky Mountains' finest musicians on what
might best be described as Warren Zevon meets a souped-up, So Cal version
of the New Riders of the Purple Sage. Co-produced and based on songs
written by longtime Boulder musician Guy Murrel, Gravedigger's Delight
harkens back to a time when vices and wishes for "second chances"
were fair game. Co-produced and recorded by Doug Haywood, a 25 year
sideman veteran for folks like Jackson Browne, Zevon and a host of other
70's rockers, lends a healthy dose of taste to a batch of songs that
could be played as straight folk tunes or full-tilt-boogie country rockers.
The middle ground is an Americana Rock album that blends country, rock,
folk and just great-sounding musical sounds into a rock-solid, 11-song
compilation. Players include Dobro-master and lap steel wiz Sally Van
Meter, the good-doctor of pedal steel Dr. Daniel Jones, Rocky Mountain
fiddle legend Gordon Burt and one of the greatest rock pianists you'll
ever hear -- Donna Debreceni.
